Bela Fleck sits in for the whole show, and we get some of his songs to boot!
Please note: I’ve mislabeled this in the recordings as a band show – it is solely Bruce and Bela. Apologies for the error.
The Ives Sonata to open serves as a timely reminder that dissonant harmonies are not new to Bruce’s playbook!
We’re gifted Bela Fleck and a few of his pieces throughout this show. (For those unfamiliar, Bela’s Over Grown Waltz is a treat).
The conversations between banjo and piano are truly unique and make for a standout show, as Bela and Bruce keep up with each other throughout this two and a half hour show.
The tease of Crown of Jewels marked the first time that song had ever been played live.
They also pull off a seventeen-minute(!) version of Bob Dylan’s Tangled Up in Blue.
