Jimmy Herring sat in for this show from Northampton in 1996. It’s LOUD!
This show starts with Keith Jarrett’s Backhand int Spider Fingers, where we also get Old MacDonald Had a Farm/Some Spiders(!)
Listen carefully to The Changes and you’ll hear a snippet of The Way We Were, which is a nice nod to the theme of the song, and the typical request they used to get, back in the early days.
Jimmy Herring sits in for a LOUD Night on the Town, which sounds like how I’d imagine Elton John would play it, and then stays for Mystery Train “in case he knows any old Elvis songs”. (Bruce hitting the high and low notes on that song is quite something! – and we also get a Molo Solo).
I Know You Rider follows up their performing that song at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Cruise Control is just a big party, which goes into a couple-minute tease of Harbor Lights and then veered off into Dark Star!
Kofi Burbridge joins on flute for Talk of the Town and The Way It Is.
The band: Bruce Hornsby, John D’earth, Bobby Read, Debbie Henry, John Molo, J.V. Collier and J.T. Thomas.
